Charisma and Cards: Robert Kuhn's Larger-than-Life Poker Pursuits
Originally hailing from the tranquil village of Barnesville, Ohio, Robert Kuhn stands out with his engaging personality and impressive poker skills. Whether he’s showcasing his talents through online streaming or dominating in live poker events, this affable pro is undoubtedly an interesting character.
Kuhn’s poker journey started at the young age of 12, when he began playing $5 tournaments with friends in the basement. He did initially face challenges when transitioning to online poker as an adult. In a candid confession, Kuhn revealed that he had made as many as 106 deposits at a single poker room.
Kuhn’s fortunes took a notable turn during his second year of college, leading to a significant bet with his mother. If Kuhn could accumulate $50,000 in winnings within three months, he would leave his studies to pursue a full-time career in poker. Kuhn managed to achieve this feat by winning a $320 buy-in event online, securing a score of approximately $55,000. The rest, as the saying goes, is history.
Kuhn excels in live tournaments too
While Kuhn has achieved considerable success in online poker, he is also well-versed in live tournaments. His accolades include triumphs in significant events, such as a WPT side event at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida.
One of his most notable live poker accomplishments is securing a WSOP Circuit ring in 2016, earning an impressive $122,098. Kuhn’s dominance also really shines through in the online realm, as evidenced by his first bracelet victory during the 2020 WSOP online series.
