At Americas Cardroom, our goal is to ensure that players have a fun and responsible gaming experience at the tables. Playing responsibly means staying within your budget and ensuring online poker does not interfere with your personal or professional life.
Our Responsible Gaming program is designed to prioritize our players’ well-being.
Time outs
If gaming is taking more of your time than you’d prefer, you can set Game Restrictions. These allow you to cap tournament buy-ins with stop losses or even disable games so that they don’t show up in the poker client while you are playing.
Self-exclusion
If gaming is negatively affecting your well-being, you can choose to self-exclude by disabling your account. This will permanently disable your account, which means it will never be reopened, and you won’t be able to create a new one.
Identify and reduce risks
The guidelines below can help ensure that online poker remains a safe and enjoyable experience and help reduce the risk of problems developing:
- Play for fun and entertainment, not to make money.
- Only use money you can afford to lose. Avoid using money meant for essential expenses like rent, mortgage, utilities, or groceries.
- Set deposit limits that you’re comfortable with to ensure you don’t deposit more than you can afford.
- Don’t try to recoup losses or play higher stakes to win back money.
- Don’t play if you’re upset, tired, or depressed as it’s more difficult to make good decisions when you’re feeling down.
- Balance your poker playing with other activities like spending time with friends and family or engaging in other hobbies.
If you think playing online might be a problem in your life (or in the life of someone you know), we are here to assist. Consider the following questions:
- Have you ever missed important daily tasks because of gambling?
- Has gambling caused you to neglect your personal welfare or that of your family?
- Have you sold items or borrowed money to support your gambling?
- Have you played until every dollar was gone?
- Have you ever gambled longer than you intended?
- Have you ever thought about self-harm or suicide because of your gambling?
If you answered “Yes” to several of these questions, we encourage you to contact Gamblers Anonymous or the National Council on Problem Gambling for support.
