Are you ready to take your poker game to the next level, but find yourself short on funds? Or are you looking to earn some money without personally hitting the poker tables?
Poker staking at Americas Cardroom offers the perfect solution for both!
What Exactly is Poker Staking?
At Americas Cardroom, poker staking allows you to buy into part of another player’s entry fee for a Multi-Table Tournament (MTT) or sell shares of your own.
This unique feature lets stakers dive into tournaments without playing themselves. Meanwhile, those selling their stakes can minimize their playing expense and variance but potentially increase earnings by adding a markup on the sale price of their stakes.
Becoming a Staker
Want to back another player in a tournament? Follow this easy guide:
- Launch the poker client and click the Staking button in the main lobby.
- In the Staking lobby, you’ll see a list of tourneys open for staking on the upper left. Pick your preferred one.
- To the right, you’ll find a roster of players looking to be staked for that event. You can view the portion they’re selling (up to 90%) and what’s still up for grabs. Feel free to mark players as favorites and jot down any notes.
- Input the stake percentage you wish to purchase at the bottom right. The platform will calculate the cost, allowing you to click “buy” to finalize the transaction. Remember, staking percentages are approved in 1% steps every 5 minutes, giving other stakers a fair shot.
- Once you place an offer, it stands. If the purchase isn’t completed before the offer fills up, you’ll be refunded for the amount not bought. Should the staked player withdraw from the tournament, you’ll receive a full refund.
- Don’t miss the “Spin to Stake” option for a shot at winning a stake percentage by simply spinning a wheel.
Looking to Get Staked?
If you’re looking to get staked for a tournament at Americas Cardroom, here are the steps you need to follow:
- Find the tournament you’re entering and select the “sell action” option at the screen’s bottom right.
- You’ll be taken to a new window to set the percentage of your entry fee you want to sell and how many times you intend to enter. You also have the chance to increase the selling price with a markup for higher profit potential if you predict high demand.
General Terms and Conditions
- Americas Cardroom allows participants to buy a stake in another player’s action in MTTs.
- For those who buy stakes, Americas Cardroom does not charge additional fees on these transactions.
- The maximum amount available for staking is 90%.
- In situations where an event is canceled and a player is already in a payout position, the person holding the stake will get their respective share based on the ICM chip count payout tied to the stake they have bought.
- If cancellation occurs post the end of the late registration period, the financial distribution to the Staker will also adhere to the ICM chip count, in proportion to their stake.
Terms for Offering Action (If you are the player)
- If you decide to ask for a markup greater than 1, be prepared to have your name published. This transparency helps stakers make informed decisions.
- You will need to list the exact number of entries and re-entries you’re putting up for staking.
- If you’re offering more than one entry, be aware that additional entries won’t automatically register you again if you bust. Unused entry fees will be refunded to the staker.
- Once you’ve used up your staked entries, no additional re-entries can be made using your funds.
- Playing on a different site within WPN while participating in a staked event on Americas Cardroom is prohibited and will result in penalties.
- Always follow the specific tournament rules available here: Tournament Rules.
- Your staking offer must be set before the tournament starts, closing out five minutes prior to the event.
- After a staker invests in your offer, you won’t be able to edit it.
- You have the freedom to withdraw your offer up until five minutes before the start.
- Including a markup means you’re adding an extra charge. For example, with a 1.1 markup, there’s an added 10% to the entry fee.
Terms for Purchasing Action (If you are the Staker)
- At Americas Cardroom, you have the freedom to support an unlimited number of players by staking them.
- You’re allowed to acquire as much as 90% of a player’s action, with the specific percentages adjustable when markup is applied.
- It’s important to maintain consistency when staking; you must buy an identical percentage across all the entries a player is offering.
- After you commit to a stake, it’s a done deal – all stakes you decide to purchase are irreversible.
- A player has the option to pull back their staking proposal up until five minutes before tournament kickoff. Should this happen, any stakes you bought will be promptly returned to your balance.
- Americas Cardroom strives for equity among stakers. Thus, action is distributed in 1% increments every 5 minutes. As the tournament nears—5 minutes out—any undistributed action is allocated as evenly as possible among all stakers.
- Remember, if you’re buying percentages from multiple WPN accounts, this is considered multi-accounting, which is prohibited, and will be penalized.
