From the Football Field to the Final Table
Alex Foxen has built a reputation as one of the most dominant and consistent high-stakes poker players in the world. Originally from Cold Spring Harbor, New York, Alex first made his name as a standout athlete, playing Division I football as a tight end for Boston College before eventually turning his competitive focus toward poker. His background in sports helped shape the discipline, mental toughness, and relentless work ethic that would later define his poker career.
After graduating from Boston College in 2014, Alex began pursuing poker professionally and quickly found success online under the screen name “bigfox86.” His ability to combine aggression, composure, and elite-level strategy helped him rise through the online ranks before transitioning into the live tournament scene.
Built for Poker’s Toughest Fields
Since arriving on the live circuit, Foxen has become one of poker’s most accomplished tournament crushers. He made history by becoming the first player ever to win back-to-back Global Poker Index (GPI) Player of the Year awards in 2018 and 2019, cementing himself as one of the game’s premier competitors. Known for his consistency in the toughest high-roller fields around the world, Alex has earned millions competing against the very best players in poker.
One of the defining moments of his career came in 2022 when he captured his first World Series of Poker bracelet in the $250,000 Super High Roller event, earning more than $4.5 million. He followed that up with another career milestone in 2024 by winning the $100,000 Triton Main Event at WSOP Paradise for $3.85 million and his third WSOP bracelet.
Today, Alex Foxen is widely regarded as one of the most feared players in modern poker. In addition to his success at the tables, Alex is also a respected poker coach and works with Chip Leader Coaching, helping players develop advanced tournament strategies.
