How I Found My Own Voice in Poker

By Katie Lindsay

Katie Lindsay has been a familiar name in the poker world for years, but finding her voice at the table, and beyond, took more than results. It took confidence, self-awareness, and a healthy dose of glitter.

Lindsay has made deep runs at some of the world’s biggest events, including a breakout performance at Triton in 2024. But if you ask her what’s changed most over the years, the answer isn’t just technical skill. It’s mindset.

The Confidence Factor

“I continually study and work on my game,” she says. “But more than that, it’s confidence. That belief in yourself is so underestimated.”

It’s a lesson she learned firsthand. In her Triton debut, seated alongside some of the game’s most decorated players, she told herself one thing: “No one here is better than you.”

The Fearless Mindset

“That mindset changes everything. Even if I knew, logically, I was the least experienced player at the table, in that moment, I chose to believe in myself completely. I had no fear.”

That fearless attitude has come with time and plenty of reflection. Lindsay has been part of the game for two decades, and while her technical growth never stopped, poker’s modern era added new challenges: media, interviews, and content creation.

The Modern Poker Challenge

“I got into poker to put my head down and grind,” she explains. “But now you’ve got to be ready for the cameras, the interviews, the content. It’s overwhelming sometimes, but I try to focus on gratitude. If people want to hear from you, that’s a gift.”

Still, maintaining that balance as a player, a media presence, and an evolving personality in the space is tricky. Lindsay doesn’t pretend it’s easy, especially when dealing with the vulnerability of public exposure.

Power in Authenticity

“I feel most powerful when I’m fully dressed up, in my highest heels, showing up as myself. But cameras? That’s where I still feel vulnerable. I’m working on breaking through that insecurity.”

Ironically, it was the Triton series that helped her do just that. Traveling solo to a foreign country for the first time in nearly ten years, with a mic on her lapel and a camera in her face, she faced a bigger challenge than any tournament hand.

Growth Beyond the Table

“Once I overcame those fears, being on camera, being alone, sitting down with the best players in the world felt easy. That growth off the table was the real win.”

And yet, poker remains a game of grit. While confidence is key, it’s equally important to stay emotionally neutral, something Lindsay has learned through experience.

Emotional Neutrality

“You can’t take things personally,” she says. “Sometimes someone is just re-raising you because they’ve got the hands, not because they think you’re weak. Emotion has no place in decision-making.”

That awareness, that separation of intuition from emotion, is part of what makes Lindsay’s game special. She trusts her gut but checks it against logic. She’s quick to act but knows when to slow down.

Balancing Speed and Reflection

“I move fast. That’s just how I’m wired. But in poker, I’ve had to teach myself to stop, re-evaluate, and really listen, not just to instinct, but to the facts.”

These days, Lindsay sees poker as a game still full of peaks and valleys but one where her place is more secure than ever. Not because she’s arrived, but because she continues to evolve.

Unapologetically Herself

“I just want to keep growing and accomplishing everything I can, all while wearing glitter and the highest of heels.”

In a world where poker often asks women to tone it down or blend in, Katie Lindsay has made a conscious decision to be herself: unapologetically, stylishly, and strategically. Finding her voice hasn’t just helped her succeed. It’s helped her lead.
