The poker tournament calendar for the year continues to get fuller as more events are added
The World Poker Tour (WPT) recently announced its partnership with the One Drop Foundation to unveil two charity tournaments that will take place during the upcoming Wynn Summer Classic to be played in July in Las Vegas. The news may not come as a surprise to many players in the Americas Cardroom as the WPT has a long history with non-profit organizations, including the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Tiger Woods Foundation. However, there is no doubt that the recent announcement added additional excitement for the Wynn.
Adam Pliska, CEO of the WPT, praised the speed with which the events were added to the festival schedule. “We are proud to once again partner with Wynn Las Vegas as the host venue for our inaugural WPT EveryOne for One Drop event and the return of Alpha8, during the Wynn Summer Classic,” said Pliska. “It is remarkable how quickly these events came together, but not surprising given One Drop’s worthy charitable cause of ensuring sustainable access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene to communities around the world.”
Players interested in the $10,500 WPT EveryOne for One Drop will need to mark their calendars for July 9. There will be an initial three days, with the live broadcast of the final on July 14 and $10 million guaranteed. The $111,000 buy-in WPT Alpha 8 One Drop will be held July 14-16. In both tournaments, the entry fee will be donated to the One Drop Foundation, a very charitable move that shows that poker has a lot to offer to the community.
While the full Wynn schedule has not been shared, it is expected to be one of the biggest festivals of the year. The One Drop Foundation, founded in 2007, has as its primary goal to address the global water crisis, which affects more than 840 million people worldwide who do not have access to safe drinking water.
