Celebrate International Women’s Day at Americas Cardroom with a special $20K GTD tourney

We’re celebrating International Women’s Day by hosting a special $20K GTD tournament on Tuesday, March 8^th at 6pm ET.  Of course, you’re invited to take part in this $55 buy-in event, which will have 2 hours of late registration.

But this is no ordinary tournament.  All women who play in it will get a free $11 ticket, which will be credited within 24 hours of the end of the tourney.  We’re also placing bounties on all three of our female ACR Pros and our celebrity guest.  That means you’ll score a $215 ticket to our $1,000,000 GTD MDS tournament if you eliminate Ebony Kenney, Katie Lindsay, Ana Marquez, or actress and model Shanna Moakler from the tournament.

We recently sat down with all four women to learn how they first fell in love with the game.  Keep reading to see what they said.

Ana: “For me it was love at first sight. I found out about poker in uni playing home games. The minute I realized how much strategy was involved made the game super interesting. Also, the fact that you could actually make money battling people on the felt mind versus mind made it super exciting.”

Ebony: “Haaaaa, well I was a jealous, insecure 20 year old whose boyfriend would go out 5-6 nights a week playing poker and I didn’t believe him. I couldn’t understand why he couldn’t answer the phone or would be out until 3am every night. So I forced him to take me. He was playing $20 tournaments in his friend’s basement — I watched and immediately fell in love with the game. I won my first sit n go for $100 and I was hooked.”

Katie: “While I grew up playing every card game besides poker, I didn’t learn to play hold’em till just after I graduated college. I saw Moneymaker winning the WSOP on ESPN and I was captivated. I loved his story and the passion he showed, and especially loved the support from his Dad. I immediately started reading up in the game and playing online for low stakes. After moving to Los Angeles and getting a job writing for a poker magazine my love for the game only grew and here I am 18 years later still in the mix.”

Shanna: “My love of poker came from my father, he had a weekly poker night with his friends and I would sit and watch. Living in Hollywood allowed me to join the celebrity charity poker tournament scene and with much success and lots of fun I was addicted! I was honored to play at the WSOP several years ago and continue my love of gaming weekly.”
