New documentary on eSports group EDG comes to YouTube

The documentary follows EDG as it hits LoL this year

Last Saturday, YouTube became the platform that welcomed the first episode of LPL’s Make/Break documentary series on its English channel, shortly after Twitch hosted its launch last week. It follows EDward Gaming’s League of Legends 2021 campaign this year, which goes from preseason to the Summer Split grand finale.

Through the video, viewers can get a clearer idea of how the team has progressed over this year, with a special focus on how newcomers Li “Flandre” Xuan-Juny and Park “Viper” Do-hyeon have been finding their way and adapting to the new environment, which has proven to be not so easy for many. While the team did not have an expected finish in the spring, the documentary provides insight into the internal changes the team made in order to achieve the team’s incredible summer split run.

The film outlines the extremely competitive nature of the LPL, from the benching of Zhao “JieJie” Li-Jie and his eventual reinstatement into the starting roster to the sudden pressure Flandre felt about the team’s superior approach. In order to end on a high note, the documentary comes to a close by showing how the organization was able to win its sixth overall national championship and emotionally lifting the Silver Dragon Cup. There is no doubt that it was a special moment, as it was the first time EDG had won the LPL since 2017.

While it is true that the documentary was designed to thoroughly showcase the team’s regular-season performance and the constant struggle on the road to their championship, nothing is shown related to the organization’s appearance at this year’s World Cup.
