Twitch hackers reveal the earnings of some of the top poker streamers

The streaming site was compromised last week as hackers took off with its source code

Perhaps not many are comfortable talking about their salaries, but a group of Twitch streamers had no choice but to accept having their numbers revealed after a massive data hack compromised their confidential information. Although the action was malicious and unauthorized by the streamers, it is clear to see that the Texas Hold ’em space is a lucrative one, and not just for professional players.

Via Twitter, Twitch confirmed that its system had been compromised. It appears that the platform’s source code was stolen, along with more than 125GB of compressed text data, including payments from that community. So far, it is not known who is behind the attack.

According to the leaked data, the public was able to see that the main Twitch streamer, Lex Veldhuis, from the Netherlands, recorded payments in excess of $294,000. Still, his operation has been affected after PokerStars had to withdraw from the European country when the Netherlands launched its legacy gaming market earlier this month.

While it is true that Veldhuis is no longer able to broadcast from PokerStars, he made it clear to his fans that he is looking for every possible way to get back on track. “Great timing for the Twitch-code leak, honestly. If anyone hacked my stream key and password, do me a favor and stream something on my channel while I sort out my stuff!” he wrote on Twitter.

The list doesn’t stop there. Brian Davis, better known as “True Geordie,” who streams a wide range of content, including poker, has recorded payments of more than $235,000. In third place was Ben Spraggy, who has just over $128,000 in payouts. Other fully dedicated poker streamers don’t make such large sums, but they are definitely considerable earnings to live off of.
