Brian Rast becomes the latest WSOP winner, picks up bracelet #5

Rast continues his WSOP run with a 6-Handed NLHE win

Day 2 of the $3,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em saw a small number of people return to battle each other for a chance to win the World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold and the nearly $475,000 top prize. At the end of the day, the player who showed the ability to take home the title was Brian Rast, who, after leaving all his opponents behind, was able to claim his fifth WSOP gold bracelet at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino.

So far, the player has had great performances in the tournaments he has played, totaling more than $22 million in winnings. The player has actually won two WSOP poker player championships, so it’s no afterthought for the five-time bracelet winner to claim a victory in this prestigious event.

“Honestly, it’s mixed emotions; the biggest one is relief,” said Rast. “Things have been changing in my life. Since COVID, it’s the least I’ve played poker since I started. So coming back to this WSOP it’s like, I really haven’t played much for almost a year and a half. This was like a challenge. This WSOP is more like playing for the competitive spirit of it and it was cool because I’ve played poker for a lot of money and this is a decent chunk for only putting up $3k. But that said, The thing that really got me fired up about this is the competitiveness of doing it.”

The 39-year-old Rast said he is very mindful of his legacy and that all of his accomplishments should at some point bring him many rewards in the future. He says that getting into the Poker Hall of Fame has been one of his biggest goals, and with his accomplishments so far, he should be considered to make it a reality. Rast said he wanted to return to the WSOP this year and prove to himself that he still has the skills necessary to hold a high position in the poker community. He clearly succeeded.
