Sony’s Firesprite Limited completes acquisition of Fabrik Games
By Bob Garcia
Firesprite announced today that it has completed its acquisition of Fabrik Games. The Manchester-based game studio will operate under the Sony Interactive Entertainment umbrella. Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that it was purchasing Firesprite earlier this month and the acquisition of Fabrik Games is effectively an extension of that deal.
Commenting on its latest acquisition, Firesprite Managing Director Graeme Ankers stated, “I’m delighted to announce that we will be bringing Fabrik Games and Firesprite together as part of our exciting next step with PlayStation Studios.” He added, “They are a team of passionate and committed developers, led by industry veterans who have worked on many AAA franchises. We’re looking forward to bolstering our creative talent as we continue on our journey to offer truly unique experiences for PlayStation fans.”
Fabrik Games Studio Head Errol Ismail said, “We have a history working and collaborating closely with Firesprite. There’s a huge amount of creative and cultural alignment already and the entire team is excited to be on board. We can’t wait to show everyone what we’re capable of.”
Fabrik Games is best known for the PlayStation games Filthy Lucre and The Lost Bear, but the company was also responsible for porting The Persistence to PS4, Steam, Xbox One, Viveport, and Oculus in conjunction with the team at Firesprite.
Fabrik Games was founded in 2014 by current Managing Director Graeme Ankers. More information about Fabrik Games and Firesprite can be found at fabrikgames.com and firesprite.com, respectively.
