The long-time poker industry fixture will offer tips and education on the game
It is well known that Phil Galfond, apart from being well-loved by the poker community worldwide, is also acclaimed for being one of the best players today. His style of play is incredible, and the best part of it all is that now that wisdom can be acquired through his new YouTube channel. Many poker pros have opted to start teaching a few poker lessons to their followers, and Galfond is now joining them. For this reason, his new account was opened last weekend and already includes a training video to help poker players improve their Texas Hold ’em strategy.
Galfond, three-time WSOP bracelet winner and owner of the Run it Once poker site, can’t be compared to the traditional poker YouTuber. While it is true that his way of expressing himself and understanding the game is very similar to anyone else’s, not to mention that he has an unparalleled resume, he is not usually someone who seeks to address controversial issues in poker or simply seeks to attack the style of play of his competitors. During his first video entitled “How I Deal with Downswings,” Galfond demonstrated the skills necessary to teach the game in an effective and congruent manner. Knowing how to play poker well does not necessarily mean you are also good at teaching; however, Galfond seems to have both virtues.
During the video, you can see Galfond’s great admiration for Winston Churchill, as he uses a number of compelling quotes from Churchill, such as “never waste a good crisis.” With this, Galfond wants to imply that as long as a player has a winning streak, the mentality will remain positive, but when something goes wrong, they start to question everything. His YouTube channel has been launched two days ago, and already has just over 2,300 subscribers, while his first video has already surpassed 6,000 views.
