The New Orleans Saints have high expectations for Chris Hogan

The recently signed wide receiver is expected to fill a huge void for the Saints
Wide receiver Chris Hogan was one of the most recent signings of the New Orleans Saints. His inclusion is a strategic plan designed to cope with the absence of Michael Thomas due to his ankle injury that was surgically repaired last month. However, many fans are still wondering what to expect from this new hire and if he will really serve as a relief player for the team.
Hogan’s training camp with the Saints began earlier this week, and after proving he has what it takes, by the end of the day, he was sealing his contract with the Black and Gold. Hogan has been in the NFL for ten seasons and the Saints are his fifth team. His career stands out mainly during the seasons he wore the jersey of the New England Patriots, as during his time with that team, he was able to lift the Lombardi Trophy twice.
Experts have said that they do not believe Hogan has a major role in the team’s offense even when they are not in an easy situation. The Saints still have the ability of Tre’Quan Smith and Marquez Callaway, which, at best, could have Hogan serving as a third wide receiver. So far, the 2016 season has been the best on record in Hogan’s career. By that time, he was playing with the Patriots and was able to rack up 38 total receptions for 680 yards and four touchdowns. When you have Tom Brady throwing you great passes, it’s easier to get good numbers.
The Saints’ desperation led them to get a contract out of nowhere with Hogan, as losing a No. 1 wide receiver at this point is not an easy pill to swallow. Hogan wasn’t exactly signed to take Thomas’ spot, but he’ll be on the team’s roster in case something out of the ordinary happens. The Saints still have high expectations for the player and know that they can count on his great ability should he be needed.
