The Indianapolis Colts made one of the biggest splashes in free-agency this summer, signing former Pro-Bowler QB Carson Wentz to replace the retired Philip Rivers. And while the jury is still out on whether Wentz still has the ability to return to his 2017 form, he’ll no doubt be aided by playing behind one of the best offensive-lines in the game. Additionally, Wentz will be playing under Colts head-coach Frank Reich, who is intimately familiar with the QB thanks to being part of Philadelphia’s coaching staff during the Eagles’ 2017 championship year.
Elsewhere, the Colts showed great progress on both sides of the ball last season, with the offense moving from 16th most points in the league to 9th and the defense giving up the 8th fewest yards in the league, their best mark since 2008. Additionally, the Colts are projected to play the 6th easiest schedule, largely by factor of playing their division-rivals Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans 4 times.
And while Indianapolis wasn’t overly active in free-agency, they did manage to draft edge-rusher Kwity Paye an exciting prospect who surprisingly fell down the draft-board further than most had anticipated and now fills one of the Colts’ biggest needs. If Paye can live up to expectations, Indianapolis’ pass-rush could pose a massive problem for offensive-lines around the league, making a plus-odds Over bet seem like an appealing betting option.
