Chris Paul favored to win NBA Finals MVP
By Bob Garcia
The NBA Finals between the Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks get underway tonight (Tuesday) and there is a lot of buzz already brewing about who will be named series MVP.
You can bet on this special prop at the Americas Cardroom sportsbook just by clicking on ‘NBA Futures’ under the Basketball section.
As you can see below, Chris Paul is the solid favorite +153, followed by his teammate Devin Booker (+240). If Paul wins the award at age 36, he will become the second-oldest player to ever accomplish the feat. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was 38-years-old when he turned the trick with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1985.
The fact that Paul is playing so well at his age is arguably more impressive than what Abdul-Jabbar accomplished. That’s because point guards usually slow down much earlier than big men. There is some thought that Paul will be given this award if Phoenix wins, even if the 24-year-old Booker slightly outplays him. That’s simply due to the sentimental effect.
On the Milwaukee side, Giannis Antetokounmpo (+392) is the favorite despite being doubtful for Game 1 and no one knowing for sure when he will return from his hyperextended knee. A better bet value-wise for the Bucks could be Khris Middleton (+518) who really stepped up (29 PPG) in Antetokounmpo absence in the final two games of the Eastern Conference Finals against Atlanta.
