The eSports organization is immortalized by the sports magazine
More news keeps coming in where it is clear that eSports are starting to have a great relevance worldwide, so much so that even important organizations are starting to appear on the covers of sports magazines, a sign that things are going great. After becoming one of the legacy publications of the traditional media, Sports Illustrated decided to assign a spot on its cover to FaZe Clan in the recently shared July issue.
Giving FaZe Clan an important spot alongside sports stars like Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, NICKMERCS can now be seen squatting while Swagg, Rug and Temperr cheer him on. After becoming a huge Battle Royale streamer, NICKMERCS is now also given his place for his famous gymnastics broadcasts. It’s no secret to anyone that any athlete appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated is worthy of great admiration and honor, and the fact that an eSports organization has made it is also a great indication of success.
The eSports industry has already started rubbing elbows with quite a few sports franchises, and fairly major organizations worldwide, and this was a clear example of that. While the cover doesn’t emphasize eSports players, there is at least one small mention that Atlanta Faze got during the second to last paragraph. Today, FaZe can easily be considered one of the longest-running eSports organizations. In addition, it has a presence in virtually every major eSport to date and has at least one team in every first-person shooter game.
While it is surprising to see this organization in a major sports publication, the merits are more than deserved, as the industry has seen some growth thanks to its style.
