It seems that eSports will now take over the big screens after it was announced that the renowned movie theater company Cinemark has reached a partnership with eSports firm Mission Control. Both companies, through this agreement, have announced that gaming and eSports events can now be enjoyed in movie theaters in the US, something that undoubtedly excites the large number of fans who like the intensity experienced in these rooms.
This partnership will result in many of Cinemark’s movie theaters in the country now being the home of different public eSports events. As if this were not enough, the firm also indicated that it will be in charge of organizing tournaments for different titles and making them available to this very competitive community in a short period of time. According to a press release, patrons will be able to use their Nintendo Switch consoles to go head-to-head with other players and enjoy titles such as Rocket League, Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on some of the theater’s screens.
“Our purpose at Mission Control is to bring together and grow communities, particularly through our passion for gaming. By partnering with Cinemark, a brand already synonymous with community and entertainment, we have the opportunity to achieve our purpose by giving Cinemark communities another entertaining way to come together on our eSports platform,” said Austin Smith, CEO, and co-founder of Mission Control.
A new Mission Control project represented by the name “Cinemark Esports” was also announced at the launch. The idea is to be able to “offer online gaming opportunities for those looking to compete with other Cinemark fans.” This being the case, both companies will pool their expertise to organize a series of online and offline tournaments in a variety of titles.
