New $300-million Hard Rock casino in Indiana now open
By Bob Garcia
The new casino was inaugurated at the end of last week
Indiana residents were able to enjoy the newly opened Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana late last week. In order to provide a unique and crazy event, a guitar clapping ceremony with members of the Jackson 5, Tito and Marlon Jackson, opening the doors to the $300-million casino. The brothers call Gary, IN, home and there is no doubt that they were thrilled to be a part of this great celebration.
Business is expected to boom after replacing the Majestic Star Casino, a riverboat gambling property that has been in the casino industry for more than 25 years. This new Hard Rock undoubtedly has a strong focus on its main object, the guitar, which is why guests can appreciate a huge guitar canopy, one that stands 37 feet tall, as they enter the new facility. As guests enjoy their visit, they will find many objects of musical interest, something that has always characterized the casinos of this huge chain.
Needless to say, a huge gaming room will be part of the amenities to be found in the casino, as well as a Hard Rock Live showroom. The gaming room, for the time being, will only feature slots, which was the operator’s decision because the pandemic is still making it difficult to host live events. However, once the health measures in Indiana are reduced, it is very possible that you will start to see gaming tables, especially for those who love poker.
The opening was not an easy road, as the opening was in jeopardy following a state investigation involving allegations of financial irregularities by the casino developer’s top executive. The Commission requested that the company’s former CEO, Rod Ratcliff, sell his stake in the Hard Rock property, which happened two months ago, in order for the project to move forward.
