Misfits Gaming introduces Women of Misfits speaker series to promote women in eSports

The new endeavor highlights female eSports competitors and issues the community faces

The launch of its Women of Misfits speaker series is clearly an indication of the focus that Misfits Gaming Group has begun to have on female players in recent times. As time goes on, the idea is for this platform to become more extensive and have better exposure to the eSports universe.

The main idea of the Boca Raton, FL-based company is to be able to use this platform as a method to address the problems that women currently face in gaming and eSports, especially when it comes to underrepresentation and sexual harassment. According to several reports, these cases are on the rise and the need to put a stop to it is more than necessary.

Practically 40% of gamers globally are women, and most of them are of legal age. With this Misfits initiative, the aim is to create a space where ideas can be shared so that women can be inspired by influential voices both inside and outside the organization. A series of speakers will be invited on a monthly basis, and it is expected that great influencers will be the first guests, including Chris Evert, Bianca Smith, Angela Ruggiero, and more. Women of Misfits’ priority will be development, mentoring, networking, and promotion.

“I am truly inspired and in awe of our women at MGG and their many accomplishments and eager to see how this platform ascends,” said Ben Spoont, CEO of Misfits, in a statement. As time goes by, the eSports industry has started to grow enormously, and with initiatives like these, a more bearable inclusion for women, who are undoubtedly a very important part of the gaming community, could be achieved.
