March Madness title odds updated for Sweet Sixteen

We’re down to the Sweet Sixteen in college basketball’s March Madness and this tournament has been marked by upset after upset. This has caused a big shakeup in the title odds at the Americas Cardroom sportsbook.

We’ve already lost a No. 1 seed (Illinois) and two No. 2 seeds (Ohio State and Iowa). Note all three teams were from the Big Ten, a horrible showing so far for the conference. Three No. 3 seeds and three No. 4 seeds have also been eliminated.

Loyola-Chicago is sixth (+1600) in the title odds despite being a No. 8 seed. That’s because the Ramblers already defeated a No. 1 seed in Illinois and are a 6.5-point favorite in their Sweet Sixteen matchup against No. 12 seed Oregon State this Saturday.

Note the lowest seed to ever win the title was No. 8 Villanova in a shocking upset over Patrick Ewing and Georgetown back in 1985.

Conversely, the highest seed with the lowest odds is No. 5 Creighton at +5000. The Bluejays are a 13.5-point underdog against title favorite Gonzaga this Sunday.

Here’s a look at the March Madness favorites:

1. Gonzaga Bulldogs (+140) – No. 1 seed
2. Baylor Bears (+365) – No. 1 seed
3. Michigan Wolverines (+875) – No. 1 seed
4. Houston Cougars (+915) – No. 2 seed
5. Alabama Crimson Tide (+1100) – No. 2 seed
6. Loyola-Chicago Ramblers (+1600) – No. 8 seed
7. Florida State Seminoles (+1900) – No. 4 seed
8. Arkansas Razorbacks (+2000) – No. 3 seed
9. Oregon Ducks (+3000) – No. 7 seed
10. USC Trojans (+3000) – No. 6 seed
11. Syracuse Orange (+4500) – No. 11 seed
12. Villanova Wildcats (+4500) – No. 5 seed
13. Creighton Bluejays (+5000) – No. 5 seed
14. Oregon State Beavers (+5000) – No. 12 seed
15. UCLA Bruins (+6500) – No. 11 seed
16. Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (+14000) – No. 15 seed
