Utah Jazz favored over L.A. Lakers on Wednesday night
By Bob Garcia
Two of the top teams in the Western Conference, the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers, meet up in a Wednesday night showdown in Salt Lake City.
Utah is a solid 8.5-point home favorite at the Americas Cardroom sportsbook. The total is 218.5 points. Tip-off is at 10pm ET and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
Los Angeles is 22-10 after a current three-game losing streak. They failed to cover the spread in any of those three contests. Star big man Anthony Davis has missed the last four games with a calf injury and that has meant more minutes and a lot more pressure on LeBron James.
Despite the downturn, the Lakers are still the NBA title favorite at +255. Brooklyn is closing fast at +290, while Utah is 5th overall at +840.
Utah is the best team in the Western Conference at 25-6, going an incredible 21-2 in its last 23 games. The Jazz did suffer a 116-112 loss at the Clippers last Friday night, after beating them on Wednesday. They then rebounded this past Monday with a 132-110 home win over Charlotte.
The Jazz have also made their betting backers very happy of late, going 9-1 ATS in their last 10.
This is the first meeting between the teams this year. It’s a more important game for Utah because they have to show the Lakers they can beat them at home, especially with Davis out of the lineup. Utah also doesn’t get a lot of respect around the league, despite their record, at least in terms of being a true title contender.
