Will the NY Jets go winless? Bet on it!
By Bob Garcia
The special NFL props are coming at a fast and furious pace at the Americas Cardroom sportsbook. We just wrote an article about whether Detroit Lions head coach, Matt Patricia will be fired on or before January 3rd, 2021. That’s the regular season finale.
The newest one is whether the New York Jets will win at least one game during the NFL regular season. The answer Yes to this prop pays -375 and No pays +277.
Let’s first get this out of the way. It is possible for a team to go 0-16 in the regular season. The Cleveland Browns did it in 2017 and the Detroit Lions did it in 2008. You might also remember the Tampa Bay Buccaneers went 0-14 in their 1976 expansion year, before the regular season was increased.
The Jets have started out their season at 0-9 as they head into their bye-week. The first eight of those games were decided by eight points or more. They did almost upset New England this past Monday night, but the Patriots rallied for a 30-27 road victory.
Let’s take a look at the remaining Jets’ schedule:
November 22nd at Los Angeles Chargers
November 29th hosting Miami Dolphins
December 6th hosting Las Vegas Raiders
December 13th at Seattle Seahawks
December 20th at Los Angeles Rams
December 27th hosting Cleveland Browns
January 3rd at New England Patriots
It’s pretty safe to say that the Jets will be an underdog for all these remaining contests. However, the only two that really seem unwinnable are at the Seahawks and the Rams. The rest have a chance to be competitive if the Jets don’t purposely tank and play hard like they did against New England.
Right now there is only one other team that has less than two wins (Jacksonville at 1-7), so it’s possible that late in the season the Jets will have the No. 1 pick (and Trevor Lawrence) wrapped up. They then might give an extra strong effort to not suffer the embarrassment of going 0-16.
