The Brazilian poker player looks to introduce new entertainment and streaming content
Andre Akkari made a name for himself as a poker expert, winning a WSOP bracelet and ending in the money in a number of WSOP, WPT and EPT events. Along the way, he also developed a passion for eSports that ultimately led to the creation of an eSports team, Furia. Now, Akkari is looking to combine the two in what could prove to give both poker and eSports a huge step forward.
Akkari’s skills in both poker and eSports has led to a partnership between Furia and PokerStars that will produce “unique content” and a new group of poker streamers. He plans on streaming some content himself, but will also bring in Lali Tournier and Rafa Moraes, two other Brazilian poker players and streamers. Akkari says of the new venture, “Poker plays a natural part in Furia’s DNA. It’s all about making optimal decisions in the moment for long-term results. The partnership is a natural step for expansion as we look to move beyond eSports.”
There haven’t been a lot of details released about what’s coming through the new partnership. There will be plenty of streaming content on various platforms, including Twitch, where Furia has over 140,000 subscribers. Furia will be playing in the upcoming BLAST Premier Fall regular season with its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) team, so perhaps information regarding the new partnership will be made available during the competition. Additionally, Akkari’s Twitch fanbase will most likely grow as he starts to include even more poker content from his new Brazilian team.
