Las Vegas hotels unleash deep Black Friday discounts for poker players

A poker vacation might not be in the cards right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t plan to take one when the pandemic ends. And this week might be the best time to book it.
Hotels in the Las Vegas Valley are offering impressive Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals on holiday stays, with many deals applying to stays well into 2021:
• MGM (Bellagio MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, New York New York, Park MGM, Excalibur, and Luxor). Rates are as low as $20 for a stay (Excalibur).
• Wynn Las Vegas and Encore. Get 50% off standard resort rooms or up to 25% off Tower Suites, plus get a $50 daily breakfast credit for select restaurants. Book through December 12th and stay through April 5th.
• Caesars (Paris, Caesars Palace, Flamingo, The Linq, Planet Hollywood). Get 25% off room rates. Book by December 7th and stay through October 31st.
While it’s common for hotels to offer poker players deep Black Friday discounts, a lack of tourism fueled by the COVID-19 pandemic definitely has something to do with it.
“You do see a little bit of COVID rearing its ugly head,” said Josh Swissman, founding partner at The Strategy Organization consulting group.
To help stop the spread of COVID-19, holiday travel and large gatherings are discouraged. But if you are still planning to travel to Las Vegas this holiday season, don’t expect the same pre-pandemic experience.
Governor Steve Sisolak has issued an order, effective Tuesday, that limits capacity on the casino floor to 25%. The reduced capacity also applies inside and restaurants.
These restrictions, however, do not apply to hotel occupancy.
