The five members were let go ahead of the LCS 2021 season
There are five new eSports pros in free agency. Golden Guardians announced that it has let its entire squad go ahead of the LCS 2021 season, with all of them already out the door. Hauntzer, Closer, Damonte, FBI and Huhi are now looking for new homes, but several have already begun discussing options with new teams and won’t have to wait long to get back into the gamer’s chair.
The news that the eSports group was letting go of its entire roster was met with a certain degree of shock, especially after the season the Golden Guardians had. While it wasn’t the best, with the team hanging around the middle of the rankings, it was on track for a better 2021 after Closer and FBI started to pull ahead. All five members are now free agents, which could prove lucrative for them. However, it also means that Golden Guardians is going to have to move quickly if it wants to set up a new roster before the next LCS season starts this coming January.
Closer and FBI are reportedly already working on contracts to move to 100 Thieves. They have signed with their new team already, but 100 Thieves is going to have to buy out their contracts to consummate the deal. It isn’t clear how much Golden Guardians will be paid for the pair, and it still remains to be seen what will become of the other three members of the old squad.
