Betting Pick: Arizona Cardinals at Carolina Panthers
By Bob Garcia
The Arizona Cardinals are coming off their first loss of the season as they travel across the country to face the Carolina Panthers this Sunday. The Week 4 NFL contest kicks off at 1pm ET.
Arizona is a 3-point favorite at the Americas Cardroom sportsbook, although bettors do have to pay the extra -119 juice. Carolina backers pay less juice at -101. The total is 51 points.
There will be a limited number of fans allowed at Bank of America stadium this week. The number is unknown right now.
Arizona (2-1 SU and ATS) won and covered their first two games this season. That includes an opening 24-20 upset win at San Francisco as 7-point ‘dogs. However, the team seemed to be too busy reading its press clippings last week, suffering a home loss to Detroit (26-23 as 4.5-point favorites)
Carolina (1-2 SU and ATS) is coming off the reverse situation, having their first win and cover last week, 21-16 at the L.A. Chargers as 6-point ‘dogs. Turnovers were a big factor in that game but can’t be counted on again.
One of the main reasons to give pause for this pick is that Arizona is a West Coast team playing at 1pm ET. That’s really like 10am ET their time. This is certainly a disadvantage for the road team, but it can be overcome.
Carolina has much less margin for error in this contest with star running back Christian McCaffrey still injured. Arizona’s quarterback, Kyler Murray should also bounce back after a tough game last week (three INTs).
I think both teams revert to their earlier form this year.
