The New Orleans Saints add two new players to the roster
As the NFL season approaches, the Saints are filling out the team to make a run on the Lombardi Trophy
The New Orleans Saints franchise has been working on filling out the last two spots of its 90-man roster, which is now ready, and which will include two new faces in the organization. Veteran receiver Bennie Fowler and veteran linebacker Nigel Bradham, who signed a one-year deal with the team, are ready to wear the black and gold. The decision to add these two players to the roster comes after tight ends Cole Wick and Jason Vander Laan decided to opt-out of this upcoming 2020 NFL season earlier this week.
Fowler played his first six seasons in the NFL for the Denver Broncos and the New York Giants, and was an undrafted free agent before signing a deal with the Saints. Throughout his career, he accumulated 95 career passes for a total of 1,095 yards, including six touchdowns. During this past season, playing for the Giants, Fowler accumulated 23 passes for a total of 193 yards.
Bradham, a longtime Eagles linebacker, is hoping to resurge in New Orleans after the Eagles cut him earlier this year. He is joining the team to play right next to former Philadelphia teammate Malcolm Jenkins. Bradham, 31, played at least 900 defensive snaps from 2016 to 2018; however, during 2019 alone, he logged 717 even after battling an ankle injury. He is graded as a top-35 linebacker, per Pro Football Focus, in three of his four seasons with the Phillies.
This has been an active year for the Saints to bring to the team what is missing to get to that Super Bowl championship this season. Besides Bradham and Jenkins, the franchise brought Emmanuel Sanders and Jameis Winston to Louisiana, and signed the final year-to-year deal with Drew Brees before he retires.
