Ludwig Ahgren Championship Series 2 coming
The Super Smash Bros. tournament will be held later this month
A new eSports online event was announced on June 30, and it is going to be a Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament. Ludwig Ahgren announced the Ludwig Ahgren Championship Series 2 (LACS), which comes with a prize pool of at least $15,000. Interestingly, this is going to be the largest prize pool offered in any kind of Smash event since this year started.
The first series of this event was hosted by Ludwig in December 2018, so it has been a while. The first edition was a 16-man netplay invitational, and two of those players needed to go through a qualifier event to be there. This year’s event will have a similar format; however, on a larger scale. The total number of participants was set on 64, with 24 of them making it in through two qualifiers that will run on July 11 and 12. Actually, the qualifiers to get in the series will be part of Brandon “homemadewaffles” Collier’s Rona Rumble series.
So far, there are only nine players who were confirmed as competitors for the LACS 2. Some of those players are Juan “Hungrybox” DeBiedma, Joseph “Mang0” Marquez, Zain Naghmi, Justin “Plup” McGrath, Cody “iBDW” Schwab, Johnny “S2J” Kim, Zachary “SFAT” Cordoni, Edgard “n0ne” Sheleby, and Kevin “PewPewU” Toy – most of them with great success in Smash events. In addition to those names, Ludwig said in his video announcement that some other players, who he didn’t mention by name, will be getting automatic invites.
