NiP, B8 don’t survive to the BEYOND EPIC playoffs
The two teams fail to advance after suffering embarrassing defeats
The playoffs for the eSports event BEYOND EPIC’s in both Europe and CIS region are about to kick in, but B8 and Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) won’t be there to compete. There was an update to the points system that was used for the opening round, which caused some big teams to fall short too early and get far behind the leaders like Team Secret and Nigma. On the other hand, some others suffered devastating defeats like NiP and B8.
The first one to be eliminated was B8 after losing 2-0 against Secret, who left them with only one series win – B8 finished with a 1-4 record. Actually, B8 placed higher than Team Empire in the overall standings; however, B8 had a worse points total, which was a flat three, while Empire had 3.8, so it made the cut.
NiP missed the playoffs just by one game after the team fell behind Virtus.pro, even though NiP had beaten them 2-1 on the final day. If NiP would have stayed instead of its opponent, the roster would have jumped them in the standings easily. However, the elimination came from being tied with Alliance and getting swept on day four.
Now that the elimination period was concluded, the playoffs can take place. The current top spot is for Secret after finishing one game ahead of FlyToMoon; the CIS team went on an impressive run along the group stage. Now, Nigma and Team Liquid are positioned on the upper brackets, which means that they will be safe from elimination on the first day of the main event. Meanwhile, Vikin.gg, Alliance, VP and OG will fight in the elimination round, where there is only space for two of them to move to the next stage.
