Samsung Galaxy to include a crypto-enabled eSports streaming option
The leading smartphone manufacturer continues to introduce more crypto options in its phones
Theta.tv has been gaining popularity in the gaming and eSports community due to its platform powered by blockchain technology. In order to make this service more available for eSports fans, Samsung Galaxy phones will include the direct app to access Theta.tv in their phones for tens of millions of owners. In this new alliance between Samsung and Theta.tv, the streaming service will be integrated into Samsung’s Daily interface, which is already pre-installed in the S20 versions of the Samsung Galaxy in the US.
For those users with older versions of this mobile device, several updates will be pushed to add this platform, but only to Galaxy S10, S9, Note 10 and Note 9 devices around the world. Once this update is complete, over 75 million devices will be having this service installed. Theta.tv is not like other streaming sites, as it comes with a perk: viewers can also earn tokens of the cryptocurrency issued by Theta called TFUEL. The way in which viewers can earn this compensation is through watching and sharing streams and users can also donate TFUEL to streamers of their choice if desired, or simply convert these tokens to another currency at a crypto exchange.
“We believe this commercial product launch is a critical inflection point in the adoption of the Theta Network globally,” said Theta Labs co-founder and CEO Mitch Liu, in a release. “Our groundbreaking approach to streaming is a perfect fit for Samsung’s worldwide user base. It’s a huge step toward our goal of making Theta a global infrastructure for video content and data delivery.”
