Team Envy picks up Taimou for its Overwatch Contenders group
The popular and talented player is expected to give Team Envy a strong advantage
It is rather common nowadays to see eSport players move around from team to team, depending on the offer they get from a specific roster. Now, one of the original members of one of the best Overwatch teams is coming back. Timo “Taimou” Kettunen will be putting on the blue uniform once again to be part of Team Envy, one of the dominant teams in the Overwatch League.
Taimou became famous along with the game as one of the first players to gain popularity during the first stages after the game’s release. He dominated the game, including the beta version, using his hitscan prowess during the first year of competition. Team Envy already accumulated great accomplishments and it has won titles in different Overwatch eSport events such as APEX Season One, which was played on Korea, and MLG’s Vegas event back in 2016.
After becoming a star on Team Envy during the first stages of the Overwatch competitive game, Taimou, along with some other team members, joined the Dallas Fuel to play the inaugural season of the Overwatch League. While in the first season, Dallas finished with a negative record after having such great expectations for leading the league. During the 2019 season, Taimou saw his game time get reduced considerably after a shifting meta and new roster additions came to the team. He was then playing for not even two hours of actual time.
With this new challenge, Taimou has a chance to prove his value to the team in the Overwatch Contenders competition, as Team Envy is basically a minor league team of Dallas Fuel. Hopefully, with a good performance in this competition, he might be considered again to be part of a team’s lineup for the Overwatch League.
