Designer Jeff Staple makes a clothing line for the Overwatch League
eSports is more than just games as it enters the fashion scene
Part of every team’s spirit is deciding on a uniform to represent and differentiate the team from the rest, and having clothing kits available for fans to purchase has been something done for a long time in regular sports. Things continue to evolve for the eSports sector as a famous designer, Jeff Staple, has created brand new outfits for players and that fans can acquire, as well. This means that every team that is part of the 2020 Overwatch League will be getting a personalized clothing kit.
This kit comes with jerseys, jackets, compression sleeves, hats and beanies. This new partnership between Staple and the Overwatch League saw the two work together to make sure feedback was obtained during the design phase, while ensuring that the clothing kits were also comfortable for competitors and their fans. The uniforms are made of pin-dot mesh fabric in order to provide comfort and jerseys that are breathable. For Staple, this was great news since he has been a fan of the Overwatch League, watching all its accomplishments for a while now, and, as an avid watcher of eSports, he was thrilled when he was contacted.
“It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bring the best of the esports and streetwear worlds together to create something totally unique [and] ground-breaking,” he stated. “The kits are not only specifically engineered to perform to players’ specifications, but they’re also designed to look great outside the arena.” The jerseys will be available for fans to purchase as of January 28.
