Team Liquid loses to Astralis in ECS season 8 finals
The Danish team proves itself on the international stage
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was at its climax and the season finale has just been played, bringing the most popular eSports rivalry since 2018 together. The season eight ECS finals saw one European and one North American team confront each other for an impressive series that left their fans ecstatic. However, by the time it was over, Team Astralis finished with Team Liquid’s illusions by defeating them 2-1 and taking home the crown.
All the way from Denmark, Astralis had an outstanding performance just three weeks ago when they collected another win at the IEM Beijing. Now, by putting together all those successes this month alone, most likely they will be getting the first position in the HLTV’s world ranking of CS: GO season.
The team’s participation started in an amazing way. To begin with, Vertigo went into overtime and after a while, Team Liquid got the 19-15 win, thanks to winning three T-side rounds during that overtime. Keith “NAF” Markovic was really outstanding with 36 kills in total and it was impossible to stop him. Astralis, on the other hand, was already performing better in the CT-side and they took the 16-11 win after winning nine straight rounds. Captain Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander was also leading the time by example amassing 26 kills.
Besides Team Liquid, Astralis also took down Evil Geniuses which is the other pretty good North American team. To add more to their collection, they also took down U.S soil and this is just a small proof they are ready to face anyone. The crown and a total of $225,000 were the prizes for the winner and, for Team Liquid holding the second place, $100,000 was granted.
