Surprise Surprise – New Orleans Pelicans Vs Phoenix Suns Betting Breakdown
Coming into this season, the number of people outside of Arizona who thought the Suns had a chance to do even half the amount of damage that they’ve already done was about as close to zero as it could get, and yet here we are about 15% into the NBA season with Phoenix sitting on a cool 9-4 ATS record with some huge wins over the likes of Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Sacramento, and the Clippers.
Meanwhile the New Orleans Pelicans (aka the Cleveland Browns of the NBA) have put up a 5-9 record (7-7 ATS) while dealing with a wide range of injuries to key members of their rotation including project ROY candidate Zion Williamson as well as Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Derrick Favors and Josh Hart, the latter two having already been ruled out of this one and Ball listed as questionable.
And while the Suns will be without Aaron Baynes once again and likely Ricky Rubio as well, the Pelicans’ deeper injury-issues and early road woes (2-4 ATS away from home) have made the Suns a 4-point favorite in this one, a number that seems inline with what I’d expect.
That’s why, when factoring in a dataset centred on conference favorites that’s covered 56% of the time over the past 4 years including 13-7-2 so far this season – good for 27% ROI – I see positive edge in backing the Suns in this one, though for no more than a single unit.
That’s it for today, bet safe and best of luck out there.
