Houston outlaws pick up a new assistant coach
The coach was specifically chosen to bridge a gap between English and Korean players
For the eSports scenario, sticking with a team for a long period doesn’t seem to be the routine as players keep moving around and switching to other teams and even from one country to another. This new addition to a team comes from a very interesting source, as this player hasn’t been playing a lot in competition and has been more associated with giving support from the bench. However, Dong-eun “Hooreg” Lee is also known as a good luck charm and his background should be welcome as he starts as the assistant coach for Houston Outlaws Overwatch team.
Lee has had some interesting participation in several eSports teams. He has been called lucky charm for a while now since season 4 in APEX when he played with the London Spire, formerly known as GC Busan. Then he changed to the Overwatch League and joined a team that he helped conquer not only the playoffs, but also to win the first stage. RunAway was the next team on his resume, and it won Korean Contenders for the first time. Lee tried his luck then with another Korean team also in the Overwatch League with the same roster, following them to Vancouver. The Vancouver Titans set new records and took second place in the league. It seems to be the lucky charm nickname suits him very well as teams apparently do a better performance even if he was mostly on the bench.
This doesn’t mean warming the bench is the ideal scenario for all players to learn, but those who are good usually can learn many things from observing their teams in action. Becoming a coach seems to be the right fit for Lee. A new position, of course, will come with new challenges, especially with a team full of variety like the Houston Outlaws.
