Female Hearthstone player tops everyone as the first female BlizzCon champ
Men and women alike fall to her expertise and skills
Her name is Xiaomeng “VKLiooon” Li and she’s an eSports master. She not only took the trophy home at the Grandmasters Global Finals last Saturday, but she also made history. She is now the first female champion ever at BlizzCon.
She was battling Kevin “Casie” Eberlein during the semifinal, which went back and forth. She finally beat him and left her own group undefeated. For the title alone VKLiooon was confronting a player from the US, Brian “bloodyface” Eason. It took her three tight games in which Shaman/Druid/Hunter teamed up to send the American home, the crowd went crazy after this.
What VKLiooon did was tremendous and impressive and very good to the game itself. She is the first woman that appears as a professional player and that was able to get the Hearthstone World Championship since the beginning of the game. That alone is a huge accomplishment but, on top of that, this is the first time a player takes a trophy for the Global Finals to China. This region is well-known for its talented and strongest players; however, they end up losing the opportunity to become champions at the playoffs.
“I want to say to all the girls out there who have a dream for esports, for competition, for glory: If you want to do it, and you believe in yourself, you should just forget your gender and go for it,” said VKLiooon to the crowd while tears were running down her face. VKLiooon will definitely be a role model and inspiration to many aspiring women gamers across the world.
