Minnesota Vikings @ New York Giants Betting Breakdown
In one of the premiere ‘sell the top’ spots of the week, the streaking New York Giants will host a Minnesota Vikings team that was absolutely stone-walled by the Chicao Bears defense this past week; though to be fair, so have all 3 other teams that have faced them this season. Because while Giants fans are riding on an all-time high after the demolishing of a horrific Redskins team, all the problems that I alluded to in last week’s column – including one of, in not the worst secondaries in the league, a rookie QB, a backup running back, and a defense that’s given up the 2nd most total yards in the NFL – remain in play in Week 5. On the flip side, this Vikings team has looked nearly unstoppable in wins against the weak secondaries of the Falcons and Raiders, while putting up two offensive duds versus the stingy defense of Green Bay and Chicago.
Fortunately for Minnesota fans, this Giants team most definitely falls into the first category than the latter, making this a perfect game to fade the Daniel Jones hype and count on the more well-rounded team to fight its way to victory. Not to mention that the Vikings have given up the 7th fewest yards per pass attempt (YPA) as well as 7th fewest rush YPA – two exceptionally important statistic to consider when handicapping football games and ones that I don’t see New York being able to exploit. In fact, for those of you who enjoy playing a little daily fantasy sports, I’ll be loading up on the Vikings wide-receivers this week including Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs, while also taking a shot at the beastly Dalvin Cook who I expect to have a shot at getting his first reception TD of the season while doing his regular amount of damage on the ground, being just one yard short of the NFL rushing lead behind only Christian McCaffrey.
