Cincinnati Bengals @ Baltimore Ravens Betting Breakdown
In one of the most lopsided mismatches of the week, the high-flying Baltimore Ravens will be hosting the Lamar Jackson show against a Cincinnati Bengals team that has looked even worse than advertised so far this season (if that’s even possible). The Ravens will be bringing their 8th ranked yards per play offense against a Bengals offense that ranks in the bottom third of nearly every category. Most importantly, Cincinnati has somehow managed to give up the 2nd highest opponent yards per game in the league, trailing only the heavyweights that are the Miami Dolphins. And unfortunately for Bengals fans, that number is certain to grow against a Baltimore team that ranks third in total yards per game, sitting only 12 yards out from first place Dallas. The one bright spot for Cincinnati is that the Ravens have not exactly been the defensive juggernauts we’ve come to expect out of them, joining the Bengals in the bottom 5 of opponent yards per play and opponent yards per pass attempt, as well as the bottom third in opponent points per game and yards per rushing attempt.
That’s why, although I have some spread action on Baltimore, the over appears to be the play in this one with the opening line of 47.5 having already started to tick up slightly, sitting at 48.5 at
the time of writing. The only concern with that bet is the Bengals’ ability to produce their fair share of points to help the total, but with CIN projected as putting up at least 2-3 scores vs a Ravens D that’s been suspect at times this season, and Baltimore’s league-leading points-per-game offense getting to face a bottom-five secondary again, the hope is they’ll return to the high-scoring ways that allowed them to put up a combined 82 points over the first two weeks of the season while facing similarly weak secondaries in the Dolphins and Cardinals.
