Call of Duty League team names leaked
The names were found hidden on the league’s website
Activision recently announced the name for a new Call of Duty eSports league that’s about to roll out and it apparently wasn’t feeling too creative. The name is simply the Call of Duty League and will include 12 teams operating from various parts of the US and Europe. What wasn’t officially announced, though, were the names of the teams, but it appears that the details were hidden on the league’s new website. Whether it was an effort to drum up support by allowing them to “exotically” be found or was an actual oversight, eSports sleuths were able to put the pieces together.
The teams are going to be based in New York, London, Paris, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Florida, Minnesota, Seattle, Toronto, and two franchises in Los Angeles – that much was already know. However, journalist Adam Fitch was digging around the website when he found the names of the teams embedded in the source code, while not visible in the viewable site text. He was also able to determine each team’s colors, with the exception of those for the squad out of Chicago.
According to what has been discovered, if the names are legitimate and not just placeholders, the teams will be called: Atlanta Faze, OpTic Los Angeles, Seattle Surge, Chicago Huntsman, Minnesota Rokkr, Dallas Empire, Los Angeles Guerrillas, Paris Legion, London Royal Ravens, Florida Mutineers, New York Subliners and Toronto Ultra.
The upcoming league will see teams competing in five-vs-five Call of Duty Modern Warfare matches on PlayStation 4. According to information already provided by Activision, the prize pool for the league will be more than $6 million, slightly above the $6 million seen in the last season of the league.
