Alliance wins DreamLeague 12
The team beat Demon Slayers for its first win of the season
It was almost a win that didn’t happen, but Alliance was able to hold off Demon Slayers in DreamLeague Season 12 to take the championship and its first win as the Dota 2 eSports 2019 season is getting underway. It was a difficult battle for Demon Slayers, who advanced through open and closed qualifiers to reach the tournament; however, they couldn’t quite keep the momentum going as they faced off against the more experienced team.
Alliance had gone undefeated throughout the series and was feeling confident going into the finals. That confidence allowed the squad to take control, but it also almost cost them a victory as Demon Slayers were able to win the first two games. Alliance then mounted a resurgence and came back to tie the score before taking the third game to win the contest and secure the trophy.
The victory says a lot about Alliance’s skills, but it also speaks of the talent on the Demon Slayers side, as well. The team had no sponsor going into the tournament, yet it still went on to beat J Storm, Team Liquid and Ninjas in Pyjamas to reach the finals. If no sponsor steps forward, it’s possible that Dream Slayers could lose a couple of its best players to recruiting efforts by other teams.
Alliance will look to repeat its performance at the upcoming ESL One Hamburg 2019 event taking place later this week. After that, if all goes well, it will then be in the Dota 2 Pro Circuit Major to be held in Chengdu, China.
