Gears 5 now on Xbox and Windows
The video gaming community has been waiting for the release
Video game fans who have been waiting for Gears 5, the next installment in the Gears of War franchise, don’t have to wait any longer. The game has finally been released for Xbox One consoles and Windows computers, provided they’re running Windows 10. Unfortunately, as happens quite often, there’s a catch.
Gears 5 Ultimate Edition includes the base game and a Halo: Reach Character Pack, as well as 30 days of Boost and a four-day early access pass. It is available for purchase or to those who have an active subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, a subscription service that covers both Xbox Game Pass for PC and Xbox Game Pass for Xbox. The regular version of Gears 5 won’t be out for another few days.
For those who don’t have a subscription and don’t to wait, Microsoft has decided to have pity. A promotion is currently in place that allows gamers to purchase a subscription for just $2 for two months. After that, the price goes up to its normal price of $15 a month.
For those who aren’t familiar with the game, this might be the best chance to check it out. One reviewer, Jez Corden, explains, “As a benchmark for visual excellence balanced against stellar performance, Gears 5 is technical wizardry. It also bridges platforms and storefronts… complete with… cross-play. The fact that Gears 5 manages to jam a… 12 to 18-hour campaign, several multiplayer modes, a map editor, and the promise of post-launch support represents one of the best deals in gaming right now. It’s an even better value when you factor in Xbox Game Pass.”
