Crypto payments now possible on fantasy NFL platform
The launch of the NFL season brings with it easier DFS action
Daily fantasy sports fans (DFS) can now make their purchases and swaps a little easier. According to an announcement by BitPay, a cryptocurrency payment solution, the company has teamed up with FanDuel to facilitate crypto payments for the latter’s DFS platform. To make the deal even sweeter, FanDuel isn’t charging anything for customers to make digital currency deposits to their accounts.
The timing of the partnership couldn’t be better. The NFL season is getting underway and daily fantasy football is kicking off with it.
It’s yet another example of how crypto can actually be used as real currency without the need of having to pass everything through a bank.
BitPay’s chief commercial officer, Sonny Singh, says of the FanDuel deal, “NFL Football is one of the most popular sporting events to watch and the start of the football season makes it a perfect time to introduce Bitcoin to these fans. We wanted to have the option in place for Bitcoin users to deposit cryptocurrency into their FanDuel accounts and take advantage of the daily fantasy sports games.”
New customers or fund their accounts with $10,000 or more will be given a bonus of $2,000 and another 10% of their deposit amount. If dropping $10K on DFS is too rich, it’s still possible to make cheaper deposits and put crypto assets to good use.
There are three sectors that are beginning to come together in ways that were never possible before.
For the first time ever, the world is witnessing an amalgamation of sports, gambling and cryptocurrency, and the result is going to be an industry that is as common as shorts and flip-flops on the beach.
