Casino robbery and shooting at a Louisiana casino results on one death

The incident occurred early yesterday morning at a Lake Charles venue

Louisiana police are investigating an incident that took place early yesterday morning in order to put together the pieces of a puzzle that left one person dead and another requiring medical attention. It so far appears that the shooting was the result of an attempted robbery at a Lake Charles casino. All indications are that the person killed was one of the robbers, and he died at the hands of his supposed victim.

Lake Charles Police were called to the EZ Aces Casino on the I-10 Service Road yesterday at about 5 in the morning. When they arrived, they found two individuals who had been shot, one fatally, and began asking questions of witnesses determine what had happened. What they determined was that the deceased and the wounded individual had attempted to rob a patron at the casino, but that individual was able to fight back, firing shots from his pistol.

The unidentified assailants were reportedly “brutally attacking a victim within the establishment, when the victim was able to defend themselves and shoot the two subjects,” according to the police department’s spokesman, Lt. Jeff Keenum. It was during that altercation that the victim was able to fire his gun and, given the close proximity of all three to each other, it isn’t surprising that one was killed.

The police department hasn’t released more details on the incident yet, pending a complete investigation. It is still gathering evidence and talking to employees and the victim, and learning more about the assailants before it’s ready to provide a full story.
