New Orleans Saints inspires candy and chocolates
Piety and Desire launches a line of chocolates that should make the team proud
The New Orleans Saints are notorious trendsetters and they now have something else to brag about. Chocolatier Piety and Desire Chocolate, based in New Orleans but with customers across the country, is introducing new products that honor the team, starting with its star quarterback, Drew Brees.
The bean-to-bar chocolate company’s owner, Christopher Nobles, is a long-time Saints fan, following the team since he was a child. A native of New Orleans, the city (and chocolate, apparently) is in his blood and has produced a new addition to its lineup that show his love and support of the team.
The first product being introduced has a name that won’t fit on most placards, but which won’t be easy to forget. Dat Who Dat Two Dat Drew Dat GOAT pays homage to Brees, who Nobles states is the “Greatest of All Time” (GOAT). It’s made with milk caramel over a dark chocolate ganache – both of which are appropriately made with goat’s milk.
Just in time for the Saints’ regular season, Piety and Desire is bringing back some of its more popular football-themed offerings, as well. “Run It S’more,” which features layers of “Alvin Kamara-mel,” “Marshmall-O-line” and a candied “Pecan Payton,” is ready for the center snap, only leaving the question of what the graham cracker layer will be called. Nobles is playing around with the “Mark In-gram cracker,” and explains that he “might just leave him in out of respect.”
The chocolatier adds, “I usually start with a concept and let the concept drive the flavor. I’ve been cheering on the Saints since I was a kid.”
