Free trial of Street Fighter V coming
The trial period starts today
Fans of Street Fighter will be glad to hear that Capcom is allowing gamers to play Street Fighter V for free. As of today, it is holding a free trial period that will run through August 11 and which will offer many of the characters available from Street Fighter III, as well as new ones. 22 in total are expected to be available, with the game being offered on both Steam and PlayStation 4.
This isn’t the first time Capcom has decided to allow free access to the game. It has tried before, mainly in response to issues the game has experienced. There have been complaints of connection issues, characters being blocked behind paywalls and more, and Capcom is hoping that, by allowing users to take the game for a test drive, it will build up new support.
The trial version reportedly offers 16 characters, plus six that were added in Season III. Blanka and Sagat are present once again after having been unavailable when Street Fighter V was first released. Characters from Seasons I and II, however, aren’t available, which means players don’t need to look for Guile and others.
Capcom has a lot of atoning to do for its release of Street Fighter V. The game immediately met with a gaming brick wall as players everywhere complained that the game was more focused on monetization of different attributes than it was with offering an improved gaming experience. The animosity apparently hasn’t subsided, with many comments to Capcom’s announcement about the free trial giving it anything but applause.
