Team Liquid takes perfect record after BLAST
The global number-one team continues to show its skills
Team Liquid continues to dominate the CounterStrike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) eSports space. It has been on a lossless run lately, racking up eight straight wins and showing everyone why it is the number one team in the world. Team Liquid just added another victory to its list, taking the title at the BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles to improve its record to 9-0.
The team didn’t lose a single game during the tournament. It easily made it through group play, winning 5-0 and dropping an average of 8.6 rounds per match, and dominated the series. Only Renegades and MIBR came close, picking up double digits against Liquid with 11 rounds reach.
In the best-of-three playoffs, Liquid played a few close games, but easily cruised to victory. Cloud9 came close to forcing an overtime with Inferno after it struck back from a 13-2 deficit in the first half, but Liquid took round 30 to clinch the series and send Cloud9 out. FaZe Clan came close, playing 29 rounds against Nuke, but it, too, wasn’t able to keep up.
The group also picked up the MVP medal at BLAST after earning an average rating of 1.40 over nine maps. It peaked at 1.93 when it took down FaZe Clan in the group action with a 16-4 victory.
Liquid has now won five consecutive LAN championships, as well as the $1-million Intel Grand Slam. That victory was achieved in a record-setting 63 days and proved that Liquid is more than just on a lucky streak.
