New Need For Speed video game in the works
The new version of the popular game could be released within weeks
EA Games held an investors’ call recently when the conversation turned to Need For Speed. The popular video game that also saw the creation of at least one full-length movie had been expected to see a sequel to the franchise, according to reports from earlier in the year, but not much else had been established. During the call, though, it was revealed that the game is definitely in the works, and that it could be released within just a few short weeks.
The unveiling of the game could take place during Gamescom, scheduled for August 20-24. The video game expo attracts a lot of attention from both distributors and fans, and would be a good venue to present the game to the world. However, if EA Games wants to hog all of the attention, which it is prone to do, it could release the game ahead of the expo.
The game will reportedly be available for PC, Xbox One and PS4. Need For Speed Payback was the most recent installment of the video game, but its reception was lackluster, which could indicate that the sequel to the series will go in a completely different direction in order to revitalize gamer interest.
EA Games has decided to keep the rest of the details under wraps for now, but the gaming community always finds a way to source information. According to a gaming retailer out of Austria (possibly one that EA Games no longer wants to do business with), the new version is expected to be called Need For Speed Heat. The retailer has already put the game up for preorder, stating that it will be available for Xbox One and PlayStation4.
