Litecoin becomes the official crypto of the Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins become one of the first to make an official partnership with a cryptocurrency
The Litecoin Foundation and the Miami Dolphins are now partners. The foundation announced today that its Litecoin (LTC) cryptocurrency is now the “official cryptocurrency of the Miami Dolphins,” which controls one of the largest sports fan bases in history. Litecoin will now be seen advertised at the NFL team’s home turf, Hard Rock Stadium, as well as at other properties and in digital content offered by the team.
The new arrangement comes just ahead of the start of the new NFL season, which is going to give Litecoin a ton of publicity. The pair have also teamed up with Aliant Payments to allow stadium visitors to use LTC or Bitcoin (BTC) to purchase tickets to the Dolphins’ 50/50 raffle, which donates have of its revenue to charity.
In a statement about the new partnership, LTC creator and Litecoin Foundation Managing Director Charlie Lee states, “We’re thrilled to see Litecoin become the official cryptocurrency of the Miami Dolphins. This collaboration propels Litecoin in front of an audience of millions of people around the world at a time where adoption of cryptocurrencies continues to gain momentum and the ecosystem is able to support real-world use cases in ways previously not possible. We see this as a powerful way to raise awareness and educate people about Litecoin and cryptocurrencies on a tremendous scale.”
The VP and chief information officer for the Dolphins, Kim Rometo, adds, “The Miami Dolphins are always looking for ways to enhance the fan experience, and this partnership with Litecoin provides the ability for guests to enjoy our 50/50 raffle while donating to a great cause.”
