Four Liquid gamers in top 15 of CS: GO earnings
Performances during the ESL One Cologne tournament helped boost their positions
Team Liquid gave a stellar performance at ESL One Cologne, ultimately claiming the victory against Team Vitality. Not only does Liquid now have bragging rights for winning the major eSports event, four of its players received an extra bonus. They are now four of the highest-earning players in CounterStrike: Global Offensive (CS: GO).
Liquid earned $125,000 for its first-place finish at ESL One, as well as an additional Grand Slam bonus of $1 million. As a result, Jake “stewie2k” Yip, Keith “NAF” Markovic, Nick “nitr0” Cannella and Jonathan “ELiGE” Jablonowski have joined the ranks of the top CS: GO earners, occupying four spots in the top 15. The rankings could change once again, too, if they perform well enough at the BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles, the IEM Chicago tournament and the $1 million StarLadder Major. All are scheduled to take place over the next several months.
Stewie2k, a former Cloud9 Major champion, has racked up $917,790 and is ranked tenth, the highest of the Liquid ranked players. He is in a good spot to move quickly up the ladder, given that the sixth-place spot – held by Epitacio “TACO” de Melo – is only $23,000 ahead.
The number-one earner in CS: GO remains with Andreas “Xyp9x” Hojsleth of Astralis. He has earned $1.47 million, which is going to be a tough number to overcome. However, if Liquid continues to turn out performances like it has been, reaching the top of the list is not outside the realm of possibility.
