FanDuel launches sportsbook in New York
The sports gambling facility is located at Tioga Downs Casino Resort
As the sports gambling market in New York heats up, international online sportsbook operator FanDuel is now live in the state. It has launched its first retail sportsbook in New York through a partnership with Tioga Downs Casino Resort in Nichols and the company now operates four retail sportsbooks in the newly opened sports gambling industry in the US.
Four upstate New York casinos are going to be launching sportsbooks at some point or another, and FanDuel is just one of several that are going to be included in the action. DraftKings, Bet365 and Stars Group have all worked out agreements with gambling houses in the state and more are expected to come if New York State decides to relax its anti-gambling expansion position.
FanDuel’s VP of Commercial Retail, Keith Wall, says of the new relationship, “As we continue to expand our sportsbook operations across the US, the opening of our FanDuel Sportsbook at Tioga Downs Casino Resort is a history-making moment for the FanDuel Group.”
FanDuel has already worked with the company behind Tioga Downs, American Racing and Entertainment (ARE). The sports gambling company is involved in ARE’s Meadowlands stadium in New Jersey and the chairman of ARE, Jeff Gural, says of the expanded relationship, “Our partnership with FanDuel at the Meadowlands has surpassed expectations. Now legislation in New York has been passed, we look forward to bringing the fun and excitement of wagering on sports to the upstate region.”
FanDuel’s forte has always been online gambling, but it will have to wait to bring mobile gambling to the state. The recently approved gambling expansion bill doesn’t yet allow online or mobile wagers.
